Artifacts. The page Claude builds once and keeps current.
Most owners have a page they rebuild every week. It might be a list of open jobs, the invoices still unpaid, or the week ahead with the emails waiting on you. You ask Claude for it on Monday, you get a good answer, and by Thursday it is out of date, so you ask again.
An artifact is the fix for that. It is a page Claude builds that stays in your sidebar and shows fresh information each time you open it.
A document is a snapshot, an artifact is live
A document holds what was true on the day it was written. An artifact can use your connected apps, so when you open it, it pulls the current data instead of showing last week's. Anything you keep re-asking for is a good candidate.

How to make one
The help center says that as of October 18, 2026, you ask for it in a Cowork session and name the apps or files it should use. A request like "build me a dashboard of open jobs by client from my CRM" is enough. Claude builds it and saves it to the Artifacts view in the sidebar, where it carries a Cowork label.
You can also open Artifacts in the sidebar and click New artifact in the top right. A session opens with a starting prompt, and Claude asks which connectors you want to use and what the page is for.
The first time an artifact touches a connected app, Claude shows you which connectors and tools it wants and asks you to allow them. You can turn individual tools off, and that choice stays until you change it.
One limit to know
A connector tool that you have set to Needs approval for every action cannot be used by an artifact. If a tracker will not pull something, check that setting first. The course covers where that setting lives in its approvals lesson.
What happens when you share it
You can share an artifact from the Share button. On Pro and Max the choices are Only you or Anyone with the link. On Team and Enterprise you also get Only people with access and Everyone in your organization.
The part owners miss is that a shared artifact uses the viewer's access, not yours. If you share a tracker built from your CRM, the person who opens it sees what their own login allows. Where they have no access to a source, that part shows an error instead of your data. The help center also says that an artifact that uses connected apps can only be shared inside your organization, so a link to anyone is not offered for those.

Versions
Every change saves a new version. You can open the version history, compare an earlier version with the current one and restore it. A shared link does not move to a new version on its own. You choose Latest under Shared version when you want the people with the link to see the newest one, which lets you work on the next version without changing what they see today.
One change from earlier this year
The older kind, called a live artifact, can no longer be created. The help center says creation ended on August 19, 2026. Ones made before that date still work and still show in the Artifacts view, but you cannot edit them in place. To change one, you click Share and republish it as a new artifact. If you ask Claude to build a dashboard today, you get the newer kind.
Where an artifact fits in your setup
An artifact reads sources and shows them, and it is not the truth. Prices, rules and decisions stay in your folder files, and the artifact points at the tools that hold the live numbers. If you catch yourself typing a fact into an artifact by hand, that fact belongs in a file in your folder, and the artifact should read it from there.
Try it now
Build one artifact from a tool you have already connected. This week's calendar and the emails waiting on you is a good first one. Open it, close it, and open it again tomorrow to watch it refresh.
